ehh, but if i remembered correctly, Sumika confronts Kanoko, as well as Sumika's past and internal conflicts happened right after the white haired cook confronts Kanoko and Hime in the kitchen. And that scene happened in this episode.

Well, that make sense. Considering that the pacing in this adaptation isn't rushed and we are already in the halfway, expected some contents would not be included. Man, i hope this got season 2 to cover more arcs and dramas.

Not yet. She's more like a plot device at this point.

Sumika wants to get closer to Kanoko after having sympathy for her one-sided love for Hime so she becomes someone she turns to to rant about her feelings. Eventually Sumika grows feelings for her after realizing she's got a pretty kind heart despite her Hime obsession and hates that she tortures herself knowing her feelings will end up nowhere because Hime is incapable of love.

Kanoko becomes increasingly desperate when she realizes Yano has become more forward with her feelings for Hime and Hime starts acting weird because she's now more conscious of Yano as a woman. At the same time, Sumika starts rejecting being Kanoko's shoulder to cry on as her jealousy grows. Then, a former Liebe employee who ruined the original cast's dynamic and stole Sumika's previous little sister comes back to stir trouble. She convinces Kanoko to go out with Sumika as her gf so she can keep using her as a pressure valve for her feelings for Hime.

Sumika agrees, thinking Kanoko has at least some feelings for her, despite knowing her heart still belongs to Hime, because she can't afford to be greedy with being loved this time after losing her own previous little sister. The chapter is currently where Kanoko is conflicted about using Sumika for her own selfishness and her just going along with everything and not wanting more from this fake relationship. The former employee and Kanoko meet-up, she tips Sumika that she's stealing her current little sister now and plans to assault her because she wants to see Sumika fully pushed to her emotional limit.

About 42-ish and still going. But her internalized conflicted thoughts have been brewing since early on so you might miss some context if you skip.

when laying it all out, it feels like what makes Kanoko so relaxed around Hime isn't just that she's familiar with her but also bc she knows she's someone for Hime to rely on. She knows she is smarter than her, she knows about her facade and so she feels like her best foot forward will always be enough around Hime.
Meanwhile around others she feels like she'll get mocked or belittled no matter what she says, so she instead says nothing and avoid them.

It's either that or kind of the complete opposite, where she views Hime as a deity that only she is worthy of worshipping and everyone else are below the two of them.

whichever way it is, what it comes down to is that she kinda views Hime, herself and everyone else as three separate species and that shit aint healthy.
